Complete the survey

Mental health is a widespread issue that can affect anyone, regardless of age or gender. And with just over 160,500 people scattered across Harrogate, it's not difficult to see this affects many people.

  • One in four people will experience a mental health problem of some kind each year in England. (Source: MIND)
  • North Yorkshire has a similar rate of hospital admissions for intentional self-harm (189 per 100,000 population) compared with England (185 per 100,000 population). Source: Data North Yorkshire.
  • 72% of young people have told Healthwatch they had experienced mental health or well-being issues.

As part of work to make things better, the Whole System Partnership are working with Harrogate and Rural District Community Mental Health Team (part of NHS Tees, Esk and Wear Valleys NHS Foundation Trust, the mental health and learning disability service for your area).

They are carrying out some research to better understand the range of community based support available for people affected by mental illness. They have reached out to Healthwatch North Yorkshire, the independent champion for people who use healthcare services, to help gather views locally.

As part of this research we want to hear from organisations within the voluntary, community and social enterprise sector who are delivering mental health and wellbeing support for people in:

  • Harrogate
  • Boroughbridge
  • Knaresborough
  • Masham
  • Pateley Bridge
  • Ripon

The survey should take no more than 5-10 minutes to complete.

Anonymised findings from this research will be shared with North Yorkshire Council's stronger communities programme and the community mental health transformation programme to shape future mental health support.

"As a champion for people who use healthcare services, our sole purpose is to listen to our people, the organisations that support them and make care better. We want more to be done to support staff, services and our people who use them."
