Help to improve people's health and reduce inequalities

We want your views on how to make sure everyone has a fair chance at a happy and healthy life

There's a new plan in North Yorkshire to tackle social inequalities and improve the health and well-being of hundreds of thousands of people over the next seven years.

North Yorkshire Council are asking for your input on how to make sure everyone has a fair chance at a happy and healthy life. They have reached out to local Healthwatch and the community to help make this happen.

As the independent champion for people using health and social care services in North Yorkshire, Healthwatch know all too well the challenges facing the largest county in England. With over £615,000 people spread out across a rural landscape, access to services, isolation and transport are key issues for us.

Our sole purpose is to make care better by ensuring the NHS and North Yorkshire Council listen to you and act on changes you want to see happen. And this plan is one way you can do just that.

The plan has three main priorities:

  1. Helping communities with the poorest health outcomes
  2. Making sure where people live doesn't hurt their health
  3. Focusing on the actions that will have the biggest impact

Some of the actions North Yorkshire Council include improving waiting times and access to NHS health and social care services and promoting more active lifestyles. They also want to make sure that people who are struggling financially get the support they need. Overall, they're trying to reduce the gap in life expectancy between different areas of North Yorkshire.
