Working with Harrogate College to hear young people’s experiences of mental health and wellbeing

The Healthwatch North Yorkshire young volunteer, Helena, has been leading our plans to hear from young people about their experiences of local health services.

We are starting by asking about young people’s experiences of mental health and wellbeing, something we know is a big issue, particularly as a result of the COVID-19 restrictions.

We are delighted to be working in partnership with Harrogate College to find out the experiences and ideas of their students. We will be launching a survey in January and holding some discussions in February to better understand what young people are facing and what could help them.

We will be sharing the feedback with a range of organisations, including Tees Esk Wear Valleys NHS Trust, the local mental health service provider who is keen to hear young people’s views.

Our aim is to help influence services provided and understand how the services work to make them better for young people across the county.

If you have contact with young people and are willing to share our survey, please get in touch with Ruth at ruth.stockdale@hwny.co.uk or 07458 301393.
