Free cervical cancer prevention awareness sessions

From Humber and North Yorkshire Cancer Alliance
Humber and North Yorkshire Cancer Alliance seeks to improve cancer survival rates by ensuring more people are diagnosed at an earlier stage.

Humber and North Yorkshire Cancer Alliance is supporting Jo's Cervical Cancer Trust campaign to raise awareness of NHS Cervical Screening by offering free bitesize cervical cancer prevention awareness sessions.

Cervical cancer is the most preventable cancer and cervical screening can help identify changes in your cervix and the cells, before cervical cancer starts, yet almost one in three people with a cervix don’t take up their cervical screening invite.

Along with Jo’s Trust, they want everyone to have the support and facts they need to feel comfortable to access cervical screening. That’s why they've put together a bitesize session to teach people about:

  • The signs and symptoms of cervical cancer
  • Human Papillomavirus (HPV) and the HPV vaccination programme
  • What happens at a cervical screening test
  • Hints, tips and experiences that will help women and people with a cervix feel more able to book a test

The following virtual, 45-minute sessions will be available throughout the week:

Sessions are open to anyone living or working in Humber and North Yorkshire. To reserve your place visit the Eventbrite booking page.
