Dementia Forward: A support service for people locally

Dementia Forward is the leading dementia charity for York and North Yorkshire. They provide support, advice, and information to anybody affected by dementia across the county.

Dementia Forward was formed in 2012 by an experienced team with a profound understanding of dementia, in response to a growing need for support services within local communities.

They are here to support you and act as your advocate; making sure that your voice is heard by those around you.

Dementia Forward provides support across North Yorkshire and York. Wherever you call from, the helpline is the cost of a local call.

They have Dementia Support advisors based throughout the county, to ensure that you are supported by someone who understands where you live and what other avenues of support are available in your area.

They offer various well-being services in each district, including well-being cafes, singing groups, day services, and young-onset groups.

Dementia Support Advisors can provide advice and support which will help you to:

  • Understand dementia and what might happen in the future
  • Choose the types of services and support that best meet your needs
  • Stay connected to your local community by supporting you to take part in our range of wellbeing services
  • Make informed decisions about your care, treatment, wellbeing, and support needs

Services:

Dementia Forward's services have been designed to give you the right support when you need it.

Their helpline is open Monday to Friday from 9am until 4pm.
